Looking After Your New Quartz, Marble and Granite Worktops

Quartz and Granite worktops supplied from Griggs Masonry are durable and easy to care for – so why do we provide an after-care service? Well, the answer is simple: Accidents do happen, and we want our customers to have the full benefit of a like-new installation for as long as possible. This keeps your kitchen looking at its very best and shows every person coming into your home the quality and craftsmanship of our service also. With decades of experience, we know first hand how a little bit of TLC can transform a kitchen or bathroom back to life.

Maintaining your worktops

Quartz, Marble and Granite worktops last for years with little maintenance, but that doesn’t mean they can never get damaged or benefit from a touch-up. At the end of manufacturing, we seal all-natural stone worktops before installation. This prevents any food or liquid particles entering the stone during daily use in your home, making it more hygienic, easier to clean and almost entirely stain-resistant. Normal use will eventually wear away this seal in around 12 months, and it may do so before you notice any damage to the stone. A regular check-up every 6 months can let you know when resealing is due.

We have an email-alert system in place for all of our customers. On an annual basis, we will send you an alert email to remind you to seal your natural stone worktops. This takes some of the pressure of you as a customer and makes sure the sealing continues years after installation.

Refinishing is a more intensive process, but can allow you to change the look of your stone. As an example, if you installed a high gloss granite kitchen worktop but feel that a rougher, farmhouse look is more on-trend today, that change might be possible without installing a new stone but by simply changing the finish type.

Touch-ups before you move

Installing a brand-new kitchen or bathroom in order to put your house on the market is often a poor investment. In trying to guess what potential buyers will like, it’s easy to spend more than you can recoup in sale value. You may also regret having to move, once you’ve got the place looking so nice!

Instead, as professional stonemasons, Griggs Masonry recommends resealing or refinishing your granite and quartz stone surfaces. Resealing or refinishing natural stone is a cost-effective way to restore the original impact of a beautiful piece of Marble or Granite. Engineered quartz worktops, such as Silestone or Quarella may also benefit from a similar treatment. And, of course, if you need any repair work done, that can also be managed as part of the process.

Our after-care promise

Our job and commitment to our customers does not finish at the end of our Granite, Marble or Quartz worktops installation. We build a working relationship with our customers ensuring that there is a staff member on the other end of the phone if they are unsure or have a question about their new Kitchen or Bathroom installation.

Even if your installation wasn’t carried out by Griggs Masonry, we are more than happy to answer any questions you may have and offer advice or help in resolving any issues you may have encountered with other suppliers.
